Ms. Tonia

Hello!  My name is Tonia Schmitz and I am a trained Montessori teacher with a passion for working with young children. My husband, son, two dogs and I live in South Minneapolis where we love to hike, play, and read.  

I love many things about facilitating a community of caring, responsible multi-age learners, but my favorite moments are teaching children to read.  There is a magic in introducing children to a skill that can open so many worlds.  

I know that each child offers their own unique gifts to our community.  I also know that parents, as a child’s first teachers, bring their passions, talents and wisdom to school.  I hope that you will be open to sharing those with our Children’s House community.
