Autism Classroom

The Nokomis North Montesorri Autism Classrooms are federal setting 2 and 3 focused classrooms. Most students receive special education services for more than 60% of the school day. Some of the students not only spend time within the general education classroom but also receive special education support for 21-60% of the school day. The focus of teaching and learning is developing student academic, motor, communication, and social-emotional skills. We use a variety of research based methods such as Social Thinking strategies, Zones of Regulation, 5 point Scales, Social Stories, Whole Body Listening, Superflex, Yoga Calm, MeMoves, and work boxes to develop these skills. We work hard at developing student skills so they can become active members of the school community.
